Fame Kills tour with Kanye West, Lady Gaga canceled

The Fame Kills tour that was scheduled to kick off in November has been canceled. The concert tour, featuring Kanye West and Lady Gaga, was canceled with no explanation. All shows that are listed on the Live Nation ticket site show "canceled" next to the Fame Kills tour date listings.

Live Nation, the Fame Kills concert promoter, announced the cancellation on Twitter today:

"Breaking: Kanye West and Lady Gaga's 'Fame Kills' tour is canceled guys. It's official. Refunds are available at point of purchase."

Many were surprised at the cancellation as the artists were heavily promoting the tour as recent as last week. Lady Gaga did a radio interview and expressed excitement that she had to introduce herself to Kanye West’s fans. Lady Gaga described the show as “a celebration of creativity, art, fashion and choreography.”

No reason given for the Fame Kills tour cancellation but speculation is focused on Kanye West and the recent bad press he’s received as a result of his actions at the MTV Video Music Awards. While singer Taylor Swift was receiving her award, Kanye took to the stage and interrupted Taylor’s acceptance speech. Kanye West was to leave the venue by MTV after making his own tribute to Beyonce and how great she was, without regard for the mild mannered Swift losing out on her own moment in the spotlight.

The Fame Kills tour is now history. Kanye West and Lady Gaga will have to find a new way to get in front of the fans. The fact that Live Nation canceled the show is a good indicator that this may not have been the successful money maker that people assumed it would be.
