Garth Brooks is coming back to the stage and out of retirement on December 11, 2009. He will be performing in Las Vegas for the next five years at Wynn Las Vegas. Country music fans are more than thrilled to learn that Garth Brooks will be the headline performer at Wynn Las Vegas for 15 weeks a year through 2014.
Certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) as the #1 selling solo artist in U.S. history, Garth Brooks has sold in excess of 128 million albums. He is the only solo artist in RIAA history to have six albums top the 10 million mark. His most recent release, The Ultimate Hits, has been certified five times platinum.
Garth Brooks announced in 2001 he was going to be a stay-at-home father to his three daughters. Now returning for weekend shows, he will entertain the audience for 90 minutes with only his well-known voice and guitar. Occasional guests are possible, especially his second wife and occasional collaborator, fellow country star Trisha Yearwood.
Tickets for the initial five sets of shows that start on December 11, 2009 go on sale by phone or through the Internet at 8 a.m. Oct. 24 at 702-770-7469. Tickets can also be purchased through Wynnlasvegas.com. All seats are the same price, $125, because Garth Brooks believes that there should only be one ticket price for a concert.
In an interview with the Las Vegas Review Journal, Brooks mentioned that start times of some shows might change to accommodate more important obligations, such as soccer tournaments.
"My life is not gonna change for the next five years," said the 47-year-old, "except I'm gonna get to play music."
Die-hard Garth Brooks fans are more than happy to attend his shows, no matter what time they start. Having Garth Brooks back from retirement and on stage is big news in the country music world.
