Columbus Marathon 2009 Winners Cross the Finish Line

The 2009 Nationwide Better Health Columbus Marathon celebrated its 30th anniversary today with winners crossing the finish line on the clover-leaf design course. To help the runners along the way, more than 60 bands, entertainers, and radio stations lined the course of the Columbus Marathon. Winners are still crossing the finish line that will close at 3pm.

The Nationwide Better Health Columbus Marathon is in the top 25 largest marathons in the United States. It has been ranked by Runner's World as one of the top 20 marathons in the United States and by USA Today as one of the top 10 fall marathons.

A preliminary list of winners is as follows: Matt Folk, male marathon winner (2:20:45); Rachel Kinsman, female marathon winner (2:47:44); Daniel Kipkoech, male 1/2 winner (1:03:38); Nicole Fisher, female 1/2 winner (1:17:14); Jeffrey Fisher, wheelchair winner (1:45:41); Dane Pilon, male handcycle winner (1:12:15); and Carly Waugh, female handcycle winner (1:51:51).

Once all of the runners are in, the official post race afterparty at Park Street Patio in the Arena District will help everyone share in the celebration. The party will run from 6-9pm.

A great weather day and plenty of families and friends in Columbus, OH made the day-long celebration of the event in front yards and driveways, encouraging participants along the way. In Columbus, it's more than just a marathon, it's a day long celebration.
