Pumpkin Carving Contests Offer Great Prizes

If your pumpkin carving skills are great or you're just creative when it comes to making the annual jack o lantern, it's time to show off your talents in one of many pumpkin carving contests on the Internet. Whether you are talented at carving pumpkins that look like the Robert Pattinson, Michael Jackson or Elvis Presley, enter one of the contests soon because many are drawing to a close.

Halloween is just a few days away, so get out your carving tools and enter your best work in one of these pumpkin carving contests. Most end before October 31; some end a day or two after Halloween. Make sure you have good lighting and take a clear picture of your jack o lantern and perhaps you will win one of the great prizes offered in these pumpkin carving contests. Good luck!

Anime News Network's Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest

Slash up your best anime-related masterpiece, and you could walk away with a giant stash of horror titles and the title of this year's number one pumpkin carving champion. Take pictures of your finished pumpkin -- one lit up at night and one during the daytime -- with a sign in front of it that says "Anime News Network 2009". Contest ends November 2, 2009.

San Francisco Chronicle Pumpkin Carving Contest

Submit photos of silly, serious or just plain scary jack-o-lanterns in this Pumpkin Carving contest for the chance to win a hotel stay. Get creative, show off your skill, share jack-o-lanterns designed by kids, and offer up your carving stories in the photo caption.

The contest ends November 3.
The single prize is a $200 gift card from Best Western Hotels International. The card can be used at any Best Western property in the world.

NPR's Wait Wait Pumpkin Carving Contest

National Public Radio (NPR) wants you to carve a pumpkin based on somebody, or something, in the news. Maybe Joe Biden! Maybe balloon boy! Maybe an avant garde piece representing Kate Gosselin's hair!

The contest is sponsored by NPR's Wait Wait Don't Tell Me weekly quiz program. Carl Kasell has not only been been a newscaster for NPR's daily newsmagazine Morning Edition since its inception in 1979, he's a judge on the Wait Wait Don't Tell Me quiz program.

The MTV Rob O’Lantern Contest finalist will be announced the week of October 26 with the finalist to be announced on October 30. The prize?
