Now in its 36th year, New York's Village Halloween Parade is the nation's largest public Halloween celebration. Named as The Greatest Event on Earth by Festivals International for October 31, the NYC Halloween Parade is attended by over 2 million people and viewed seen by over 1 million on TV.
The Halloween Parade NYC 2009 nation's only major night Parade can be seen live on NY 1 TV and is listed as one of the 100 Things to do Before You Die.
The 36th Annual New York's Village Halloween Parade starts Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 7 p.m. Line-up for those who want to be in the Parade begins at 6:30 p.m. Sixth Avenue will be closed from Canal to 21st streets starting at 6 p.m. The NYC parade ends at 11 p.m.
The NYC Halloween Parade starts in New York's Greenwich Village, on 6th Avenue South of Spring Street and above Canal,right across from the HERE Arts Center, the Halloween Parade's Theatrical Home in NYC.
The event typically draws more than 1 million spectators, but there may be an even better turnout this year because it falls on a Saturday night. It is also the day before the New York City Marathon.
Masquerading NYC Parade participants and attendees should keep in mind that there will be an extra hour to belly up to the bar since the end of Daylight Saving Time pushes the clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. tomorrow.
