Tonight's widespread outage for T-Mobile customers marks the second major service issue for T-Mobile in less than a month. In October, a server failure caused customers with Sidekick-brand phones to lose much of their data. The current outage is affecting many T-Mobile subscribers who are having problems sending text messages and receiving phone calls tonight.

T-Mobile's customer service lines are tied up as customers are reportedly waiting for long periods of time to be told that, yes, there is a known problem and T-Mobile is working on it.

At 7pm EDT, the T-Mobile Twitter account issued two tweets about the outage:

All – We’re aware of the current service disruption. Our rapid response teams have been mobilized to restore service as quickly as possible.

We will provide further updates as more information is available.

Yesterday was a big day for T-Mobile with the launch of the Motorola CLIQ. The T-Mobile exclusive, CLIQ with MOTOBLUR, is the first Android-powered device from Motorola and the only device to feature MOTOBLUR this holiday season.

There are probably many people who can't use their new CLIQ tonight in light of yet another T-Mobile problem. T-Mobile's last major outage on October 11, when Microosft and Danger warned that data stored on the T-Mobile Sidekick phone could be lost for good, after a series of cascading server failures. Microsoft and Danger said that they had recovered most, if not all, of the missing data.

T-Mobile subscribers were furious and made use of social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook to display their anger. Chances are if tonight's outage is not remedied shortly, there will be more mutiny on the Twitter bounty.
