Debra Winans, ex-wife of the 47-year old Bebe Winans claims that in February 2009 BeBe had shoved her to the ground in front of their two children, ages 10 and 13. The altercation came after a verbal dispute regarding custody issues. A domestic charge violence against BeBe is pending until a court hearing in 2010.
Ironically, BeBe's arrest happened the day before Oprah aired a special on her show about domestic violence.
In early February 2009, Oprah banned Chris Brown from appearing on her show. This was after singers Chris Brown and Rihanna had a physical altercation in a vehicle that left Rihanna bloodied and bruised. Oprah made a statement about domestic violence to Access Hollywood:
"Domestic violence is something that I wouldn't tolerate. Period"
Oprah Winfrey either isn't aware of the BeBe Winans domestic violence charge or she doesn't think he should be banned from her show like Chris Brown.
Domestic violence is domestic violence. There is no clear answer why Oprah is allowing Bebe Winans on her show if she has a zero tolerance policy. TMZ spoke to Debra Winans, who said she is "hurt by Oprah's decision to have BeBe on the show."
Oprah Winfrey has not issued a public statement on her choice to have BeBe Winans on her show after he was arrested for domestic violence.
