BBC Down: Outage Perplexes Users

Checking the site downforeveryoneorjustme.com brought up the following message:

It's not just you! http://news.bbc.co.uk looks down from here.

The news of the BBC website experiencing an unusual outage started a rapid fire tweeting session on Twitter. People were both enraged, disappointed and some were even a bit snarky about the outage.

Enjoying the general outrage over the BBC website appearing to have gone down. Why should they be totally infallible when noone else is?

news.bbc has gone down before, but this is the first time I've seen the whole BBC disappear...

listening to the world series game 6 on radio because cox cable is down; now the bbc has gone website has gone off.

A quick check to the BBC Facebook Fan Page had no report about the outage. As of 9:45 EST there have been no reports from the BBC as to what is causing this major outage on the BBC website.
