In second place are the New York Mets, whose payroll is $145,367,987. The bottom of the MLB salary list in 2009 goes to the Pittsburgh Pirates who have a small payroll: $25,197,000.
The NY Yankees are paying big money and apparently it paid off with a big World Series 2009 win.
Bringing in the most in 2009 for the New York Yankees is Alex Rodrigues who has a salary of $33,000,000. World Series 2009 MVP, Hideki Matsui, has a $13,000,000 salary and is soon to be a free agent.
