The tragedy at Fort Hood became even more of a reality when the names of those fatally shot by an Army psychiatrist spread throughout the media. The list includes a pregnant woman, a newlywed who previously served in Iraq and 62 year old physician's assistant who just returned to the base after having a heart attack two weeks ago.

Although an official list has not been formally released, the media has been paying close attention to honoring the 13 people killed when an Army psychiatrist allegedly opened fire on fellow soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas. Those that were wounded in the shooting are now spread throughout various hospitals and the New York Times reports that many local hospitals are struggling to cope with the flood of victims.

One of the victims of the Fort Hood shooting was Francheska Velez, 21, who was three months pregnant and preparing to return home to Chicago from a tour of duty in Iraq. She was due home by December to begin her maternity leave.

A heart attack two weeks ago didn't claim the life of Michael Grant Cahill, a 62-year-old physician assistant. He returned to work at the base as a civilian employee after taking just one week off for recovery, according to his daughter Keely Vanacker.

"He survived that. He was getting back on track, and he gets killed by a gunman," Vanacker said.

There will be so many personal stories coming forth about the victims of the Fort Hood shooting. Each fatality has not only touched the country, but the lives of family members who are grieving the loss of their loved ones.
