Court papers filed in Los Angeles reveal that the 81-year-old Joe Jackson, father of Michael Jackson, monthly expenses are $20,000, but he receives only $1,700 from the state. Joe Jackson has requested an allowance from the estate of his late son Michael Jackson, saying that his son supported him for years before his death.

It was reported in September that Michael Jackson's mother and children receive an $86,000 monthly allowance. Michael Jackson's will omitted his father, but made provision for his mother and children.

According to documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court state that Michael Jackson's father, Joe Jackson does not have a regular income and relied on payments from his son which came through his wife Katherine for many years. He apparently has diabetes and suffered a stroke a decade ago. According to Joe Jackson's lawyers, his only source of income comes from social security payments.

Joe Jackson claims that he has $20,000 in expenses each month. Included in the court papers are rent for his Las Vegas home, meals out, air travel and hotel accommodations. The $1700 monthly social security payment Michael Jackson's father receives does not cover the $20,000 he needs. Joe Jackson was used to receiving the money to cover these expenses when his son was alive. Downsizing may have to be an option for Joe Jackson until his case is heard in 2010.
