Gunman Holds Pine Plains NY School Principal Hostage

A gunman at the Stissing Mountain High School in Pine Plains, New York high school has taken the principal hostage. The high school in upstate New York is currently on lock down and current reports indicate that students are safe. The school is about 90 miles north of New York City.

Pine Plains Town Supervisor Gregg Pulver has indicated in an interview with CNN that the gunman is an adult, not a student. He believes that the gunman holding the principal hostage is a parent.

The gunman is currently contained to a room at Stissing Mountain High School and are negotiations are in progress.

Gregg Pulver Pulver further stated in the interview with CNN that he first heard about the gunman around the time the school opened at 7:45 a.m. It is unclear how many people were in the school at the time, but he said around 600 people are usually at the school.

There are approximately 500 students and 100 staff members at Stissing Mountain High School.

No further word on negotiations or the name of the gunman holding the Stissing High School principal hostage is known at this time.
