Philadelphia Marathon 2009 Results Tracked by Twitter, Facebook

The Philadelphia Marathon 2009 got underway Sunday morning with great weather for runners. Anyone looking for results and information about the marathon can find it on Twitter,Facebook, the official Philadelphia Marathon blog. Pictures can be viewed on Flickr. Runners started off at 21st Street and the Ben Franklin Parkway, and will make their way down to Old City in this 26.2 mile race on a beautiful fall morning. The crowds are out in full force to watch approximately 20,000 runners stream through the historic streets of Philadelpia.

The event also serves as a qualifying race for entry into the Boston Marathon for participants whose times meet age group bracketed standards.

About 20,000 runners are participating in the 26.2-mile Philadelphia Marathon 2009 that kicked off at 7a.m EST. An additional 8,000 runners are registered for the half-marathon and more than 2,000 will run the 8K.
