Sadie captured here 100th Best in Show at The National Dog Show Presented by Purina in 2009. Sadie is only the third Scottish terrier to win during the Kennel Club of Philadelphia’s 130-year history, but the black terrier is no rookie – that was her 101th career Best in Show. Sadie also won Sunday’s competition, which became her 102nd Best in Show.
The National Dog Show is presented by Purina is a show sanctioned by the American Kennel Club. The show is held by the AKC's Philadelphia, Pennsylvania division, the Kennel Club of Philadelphia.
The shows are held on the second weekend of November and then shown as a single nationally televised event on NBC every Thanksgiving. The National Dog show will help raise money for the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.
This year three new breeds were introduced at the National Dog Show 2009.
Sadie, named Best in Show at The National Pet Show, now joins a list of Best in Show winners since 2002:
2002: Standard Poodle
2003: Doberman
2004: Terrier
2005: Bull Terrier
2006: Toy Poodle
2007: Australian Shepherd (Buff Cap Creslane Arctic Mist)
2008: Pointer
In an article on nationaldogshow.com, Sadie's handler, Gabriel Rangel, spoke with pride about this year's Best in Show winner, “Sadie has such a great temperament for being a show dog. She just understands everything about what you want her to do.” Blessed with a personality that lights up the room, Sadie loves to watch TV, play with toys and travel to dog shows around the Country.
