Porsche Boxter Spyder 2011 Debuts at Los Angeles Auto Show

It's California dreaming time for Porsche fans. The much anticipated 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder won't make its official debut until December 2, 2009 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, but the details and images have made their way to the Internet ahead of time. The 2010 Porsche Boxter Spyder will leap from a stand-still to 60 miles per hour in just 4.6 seconds and will do 166 mph flat out with the top down.

The brand new and soon to be gawked at 2011 Porsche Boxter Spyder features a 3.4-liter, direct-injection flat-six engine, though power has been increased by 10 horsepower for a new total of 320.

The "top down" on this dreamy new Porsche is really a lightweight soft top that is more of a sunshade than anything else. Perfect for sunny days in California or anywhere else in the world that allows you the chance to drive this well-crafter automobile.

Weighing in at just 2,811 pounds, the new 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder will be the lightest Porsche available. This new mid-engined roadster represents the true, purist form of the sports car – agile, powerful, open and efficient.

This third Boxster model will join the Boxster and Boxster S when unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show December 2.

The newest member of the Boxster family stands out from the other versions of Porsche's mid-engined roadster. Its low-slung, lightweight soft top – when closed – extends far to the rear to protect the driver and passenger from bright sunshine, wind and weather. The sleek silhouette of the new Boxter is reminiscent of the Carrera GT.

The beautiful 2011 Porshe Boxster Spyder goes on sale February 2010. U.S. pricing is $61,200. If you're in Los Angeles stop by the LA Auto Show and take a look at the new Porsche Boxter Spyder. The LA Auto Show is open to the public starting on December 4 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
