Toyota Sienna 2011 debuts at the Los Angeles Auto Show

Toyota unveiled the all-new, third-generation Sienna minivan at a media conference today at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto show. The 2011 Sienna will look and drive more like a sedan, focus on comfort and personal comfort, easily accommodate cargo, and handle big loads. The all-new 2011 Sienna will begin arriving at Toyota dealerships in February 2010.

Comfort is key with the 2011 Toyota Sienna. The seven or eight passenger configurable interior has grown more than two inches longer. The third row has been moved two inches back for improved comfort, while allowing enough cargo room in the rear for five golf bags or four large suitcases, according to Toyota. The doors have also been widened for better passenger entrance and exit and easier cargo-loading ability.

Families will love the new 2011 Sienna with its numerous storage bins, cupholders and cargo spaces that have been strategically throughout the minivan. A conversation mirror, integrated into the sunglass case in the overhead console, allows visual contact with rear seat passengers. This is especially handy for families with new babies or small children.

Second-row captain chairs on all grades have dual armrests, and a one-motion release mechanism in case the seat needs to be removed. The 60/40 Split and Stow third-row seating folds flat with one motion manually, with the Limited front-wheel drive receiving a power feature.

A 3.5-liter V6 returns packing 266 hp , while a 2.7-liter, 187-hp four-cylinder becomes an entry-level option on base Sienna and LE models. Each engine is bolted to a six-speed automatic transmission, which replaces the previous five-speed unit. All-wheel drive is only offered with the V6 for LE, XLE and Limited versions.

A new sporty SE trim also joins the Sienna lineup for 2011. The Sienna SE has side skirts, 19-inch wheels, smoked tail lamps and a lower ride height from the sport-tuned suspension. For the interior, special gauges and interior color combinations are included.

A price for the 2011 Toyota Sienna has not been revealed yet. If you're in Los Angeles this week, the Los Angeles Auto Show opens to the public on December 4, 2009.
