Free Golf Carts are Big News for Golfers

Free golf carts for everyone this holiday season. There is an IRS ruling that many golf carts qualify for the electric-car credit. Great news for avid golfers who would like to have one. The upside is you don't even have to be Tiger Woods to own one.

Now that the federal credit provides from $4,200 to $5,500 for the purchase of an electric vehicle. When it is combined with similar incentive plans in many states, the tax credits can pay for nearly the entire cost of a golf cart.

It may be a sneaky loophole due to the fact that the tax credit is intended for electric vehicles but electric golf carts are indeed vehicles, so businesses that sell them are raking in the dollars right now.

Golf cart sales have skyrocketed after an IRS ruling that golf carts do qualify for the electric-car credit as long as they are also road worthy. These qualifying golf carts are the same as normal golf carts except they have some safety features, such as side mirrors and harness-type seat belts. They travel at an average speed of 15 to 25 miles per hour.

One company advertising the benefits of this golf cart tax credit is "The Golf Cart Man" in the Villages of Lady Lake, Florida. His on-line store, villagesgolfcartman.com, just screams of "free! free! free!" deals on electric golf carts. "Click here for your tax credit on a street-legal golf cart" is in large print all over the site.

If you didn't use the Cash for Clunkers incentive and you'd really love a golf cart for a holiday gift this year, perhaps you need to take advantage of this unusual tax credit that will likely land you in the drivers seat of a free golf cart. Perhaps you will be the next Tiger Woods. Just lay off on the text messages.
