
The White Rock Marathon 2009 got underway in Dallas, Texas this morning and winners are already crossing the finish line. Edward Tabut of Kenya took first place Sunday morning in the 40th running of the Metro PCS Dallas White Rock Marathon. Tabut, 26, finished the 26-mile course in a time of 2 hours, 16 minutes and 53 seconds.
The course begins and ends in Victory Park at the American Airlines Center near downtown Dallas and runs to and around scenic White Rock Lake. The Dallas White Rock Marathon is a marathon that has taken place in December in Dallas, Texas since 1971. An official time from the Dallas White Rock Marathon can be used to qualify for the Boston Marathon.

The race benefits the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. The hospital hosts a post-race party inside the American Airlines Center. Each year, the hospital hosts the “I Rocked” Post Race Party in celebration and appreciation of the runners' efforts and running accomplishments.
