Valentine's Day Gift Ideas on a Budget

Valentine's Day is a month away and gifts don't have to be expensive to make a lasting impression. Celebrated on February 14, Valentine's Day is the traditional day for giving cards, chocolates, or flowers. There are many budget-friendly ideas for gift giving on this romantic holiday that won't break the bank but go beyond "just a card".

Instead of an expensive dinner out, give the gift of a home cooked meal with a special touch. A simple white table cloth purchased at a discount store and a few candles can make even a simple meal look romantic. Shut off the television and put on some great music for a great night in.

Burn a CD for your Valentine with all of his or her favorite songs. Most computers allow you to burn music right on a CD and you can download them from many free sites. Be careful of the sites that have pop-ups, these may cause problems with your computer via a virus. There are sites such as Rhapsody that offer a few initial downloads for free. Walmart offers 99 cent downloads and iTunes fees range from 99 cents to $2 per song downloaded.

Create a scrapbook full of photos and items from times you have shared together. A simple scrapbook can be purchased at a craft store for between $8-20, depending on the style. Add some photos, ticket stubs from movies or concerts you've gone to, and any other sentimental items that would be great for a "memory book." You can add to it each year as most scrapbooks have expandable pages.

Your Valentine's gift does not have to be lavish or expensive. From a simple card that you make yourself or a homemade meal with a good bottle of wine, gifts that come from the heart are always the best.
