Adidas drops NBA star Gilbert Arenas

Adidas wasted no time terminating its relationship with NBA star Gilbert Arenas. After the Washington Wizards' point guard pleaded guilty Friday to violating Washington's strict gun laws, Adidas quickly made the decision to drop Arenas. Although his picture was still on the Adidas website late in the afternoon, it has been confirmed that he will no longer endorse Adidas.

Arenas has endorsed Adidas since 2003. Facing a possible ban from pro-basketball, the move by Adidas to drop Arenas is not a big surprise.

"In response to Gilbert Arenas' guilty plea to felony charges, Adidas has terminated its agreement with the athlete effective immediately. Beyond this statement we have no further comment at this time," the company said in a statement.

The fast decision to drop Gilbert Arenas from Adidas may make people question why Nike did not drop Tiger Woods after his admitted transgressions. While Woods did get plenty of negative press over his escapades with women while married, the fact that NBA star Arenas violated the law with felony gun possession charges makes it a no-question decision for Adidas.

Although there may be some who feel that Tiger Woods violated the laws of marriage, he didn't technically carry a dangerous weapon other than his blatant disregard for his family.

Gilbert Arenas, 28, will remain free on bail until his sentencing on March 26th.
