California Tornado Warning: More Intense Weather Expected

Destructive weather seems to be in the news constantly and the weather in California is causing big headaches for residents of Southern California. Southern California's Long Beach, Los Angeles, San Diego, Huntington Beach and San Pedro were some of the areas affected by high winds, massive rainfall and a tornado that touched down outside of Los Angeles.

A large Pacific storm moving through Central and Southern California is to blame for the high winds, waves and lightning. The wild weather has prompted tornado warnings and pier closures.

Wind guests have been reported as exceeding 90 miles per hour in Southern California as powerful thunderstorms continued. A rare tornado officially touched down today in California, just outside Los Angeles and four water spouts were reported by the National Weather Service.

Long Beach, Seal Beach, San Pedro and Huntington Beach were the hardest hit by the fast-moving storm today. It caused flooded streets, damaged homes as well as producing hail and ice.

This won't be the last storm in Southern California this week.

Los Angeles County fire officials said they would issue mandatory evacuation orders in some flood-prone areas beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday during the next expected storm in the region. There's the potential for extremely heavy rainfall and wind damage across many areas of southern California due to the severe storms.

A strong jet stream is sending the line of storms on shore from the Pacific Ocean. Extreme weather is expected to continue through Thursday.
