Apparently Burger King just isn't a place where kids can get a crown with their cheeseburger and fries. Select Burger King restaurants plan to start selling ice cold beer in aluminum bottles to go with your Whopper. BK announced on Friday that it will start this new-found business idea in mid-February when it opens its first "Whopper Bar" in Florida's trendy South Beach.
The Whopper Bar is in the works for more locations in the United States in places such as New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Burger King is trying to get an edge on casual dining restaurants and will offer burgers, a variety of toppings and beer at its planned Whopper Bar restaurants.
Having a beer with your burger at Burger King's Whopper Bar will cost roughly $2.00 more than having a soda. A cold beer will be about $4.25 on its own or as part of a Whopper combo for $7.99.
For now, Burger King plans to sell Anheuser-Busch and Miller-Coors beers and perhaps have other beer brands in the future.
This is not a new concept for Burger King restaurants in Germany as well as Whopper Bars in Singapore and Venezuela. They already sell beer in their establishments. However, the Whopper Bar that open in South Beach in February will be the first BK brand in the USA to sell beer.
Fast food with a beer. It's certainly going to bring some attention to Burger King and more than likely some new beer-loving fans.
