Paula Abdul needs to get back in the limelight since leaving American Idol. It seems only appropriate that she appear on Dancing with the Stars as a contestant but what if she didn't win? That might be devastating. Rumors are flying that DWTS would welcome Abdul on their next show and it would be good publicity for the show since the celebrity dancers weren't been all that spectacular in the last season.

Of course, Dancing With the Stars never confirms or denies potential contestants, so it's purely speculation about Paula Abdul joining the next season. However, there are strong rumors on the Web that there's a big offer involved if Paula joins the next Dancing with the Stars show in March.

According to the sometimes reliable and mostly gossipy TMZ:

ABC has offered Abdul a $1,000,000 development deal, with one catch -- she has to appear on "DWTS," sources say..

ABC has been going after Paula for a few years now, trying to get her on "DWTS."

According to the proposed deal, ABC would allow Paula to do "The X Factor" with Simon Cowell. We're told Simon and Paula met a week ago to discuss the show, and it looks like it will happen.

Paula Abdul was a judge on American Idol from 2002 until departing in 2009. On August 4, 2009, Abdul confirmed that she would not be returning to Idol for its ninth season after many contract negotiations.

There were reports that Abdul had been earning as much as $5 million per season and that she was reportedly seeking as much as $20 million to return.

MSNBC reported about the Abdul-DWTS speculation, “She’s been wanting to make her mark on a network long term ... If ABC were to give her that chance, she’d probably do it, even if being on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ was the trade-off.”
