That is correct. Rush Limbaugh will join six other judges including a Miss America turned opera singer and philanthropist; an accomplished actress; an Olympic gold medalist; a six-time Grammy nominee; a successful comedian, and an American Idol finalist.
The most listened-to radio talk show host in America was chosen to judge what is now known as a "scholarship pageant" instead of a beauty or talent pageant. Limbaugh is a controversial figure in American politics and media and an influential opinion leader in the conservative movement in the United States.
As of Saturday, January 30, Limbaugh can add pageant contest judge to his list of accomplishments. He will be responsible for evaluating the contestants from the preliminaries through the final night of competition. Of course, he'll be paying particular attention to their brains and not the swimsuits being such a conservative.
Limbaugh is known to be critical of feminism:
Limbaugh is an especially interesting pick as a judge for the Miss America Pageant. Limbaugh is widely known as being critical of feminism, saying that "Feminism was established so as to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream of society."
Rush Limbaugh also popularized the term "feminazi", referring to about two dozen feminists "to whom the most important thing in life is ensuring that as many abortions as possible occur."
Swimsuits, ball gowns, brains and beauty will be on stage for the 2010 Miss America Pageant. Joining Rush Limbaugh in the lineup of judges are actress Vivica A. Foxl Miss America 2002 Katie Harman; 2008 Olympic gold medal winner Shawn Johnson; musician Dave Koz; comedian Paul Rodriguez; and American Idol finalist Brooke White.
Even if you're not a fan of watching "scholarship pageants", it might be an interesting night seeing what conservative Rush Limbaugh has to say as one of the judges of the 2010 Miss America Pageant.
