Swine Flu H1N1 Vaccine A Sigh Of Relief

Vaccine against H1N1 Swine Flu has been approved by FDA, which brings a rejuvenating spree in countries suffering from the pandemic.

Official of South Florida health department declared that they will be soon ready to administer shots for H1N1 swine flu, they also left a ripple of relief for every one stating that Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday officially approved the vaccines being tested.

Vaccines would arrive by the month of October 2009 stated Kathleen Sebelius, secretary of Health and Human Services, India placed the demand fr 50 million vaccines to be imported.

Tested by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases the vaccine would be efficient enough to cure healthy adults in a single shot by achieving complete immunity with in 10 days, experts had predicted it would take two shots given as much as three weeks apart.

"It appears that the vaccine we're producing is working quite well," said Sebelius. The testing of vaccine continues on children with a pending decision of requirement of two doses for complete immunity.

Due to high demand the vaccines might not be provided at once and would require order to be placed before hand, south Florida health officials say.

"We will be making sure the H1N1 vaccines,high-priority groups first," said Dr. Paula Thaqi, director of the Broward County Health Department.

High focus group would be
• Pregnant women.

• Caregivers for children under 6 months of age, since such infants are at risk of swine flu but cannot be vaccinated themselves.

• All people from 6 months through 24 years of age.

• Adults 25 to 64 who have underlying health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, lung diseases or suppressed immune systems.

• Healthcare and emergency medical services personnel who will work with flu victims.

The Florida Health Department is on toes to fanalise plans for swine flu vaccinations at retail pharmacies, supermarkets and other commercial facilities, for the disaster to end before impacting many other lives.
