BalletMet Columbus offers Valentine revelry of a different color at Dance Days for Kids, Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, at the Capitol Theatre beginning at 1pm. The color-themed event, for children ages 3-10, includes fun, hands-on activities followed by a special performance at 2pm. Plus, kids can meet BalletMet Company dancers after the performance. General admission tickets are $12.
Though red may be the color of love, Dance Days for Kids will offer fun in every shade of the rainbow including bluebirds, lilac fairies, white cats and more. The performance will feature works especially for kids including BalletMet's YouthMet in Buckeyeroo Ballet, choreographed by Company dancer Justin Gibbs to the music of Aaron Copeland.
The BalletMet Company will also perform Rainbow Etudes and the Bluebird variation from The Sleeping Beauty. Filled with the Company's incredible dancing, the experience should delight children and parents alike. After the performance, families will be invited to take the stage as they meet the dancers in the Capitol Theatre.
Children can let their imaginations run wild with activities that include:
"¢ Participating in a Creative Movement class that encourages creativity and expression
"¢ Creating their very own Valentine's day cards
"¢ Crafting unique crowns with colorful sequins and stickers
"¢ Flexing their muscles with a fun bean bag toss -- www.balletmet.org
