The Minnesota Orchestra, in collaboration with U.S. Bank, will launch its third annual "Breakfast with Beethoven" on Thursday, February 1, a unique opportunity for morning commuters to receive a free pastry, newspaper and-new this year-a $10 iTunes® gift card at Orchestra Hall.
The Breakfast, which begins at 5 a.m. in the Orchestra Hall driveway and continues while supplies last, initiates two weeks of Beethoven performances by the Minnesota Orchestra and celebrates a milestone: the Orchestra's critically-acclaimed Beethoven symphonies are now downloadable via online music retailers, including iTunes®, eMusic and Rhapsody, among other sites.
Three years ago Music Director Osmo Vänskä and the Minnesota Orchestra launched a five year, five disc plan to record the complete Beethoven Symphonies. The most recent release, a recording of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Minnesota Chorale, debuted at No. 12 on Billboard Magazine's classical charts last fall and continues to receive outstanding international acclaim.

Beethoven himself will help to distribute the gift items, and the Orchestra Hall lobby will be open to the public throughout the morning with a variety of performances featuring (what else?) the music of Beethoven. Music lovers are advised to arrive early for the event to ensure receipt of the complimentary gift cards. -- www.minnesotaorchestra.org
