For some reason, the Hoover Windtunnel Cyclonic Bagless HEPA Upright Vacuum cleaner is a hot item on Google today. Why? It's on sale right now, and you can get one for as little as $20.00 on Craig's List.
Amazon's retail price is $199.99, and it's $114.99 on eBay. Check your local Craig's List as well. Chances are you can get this sucker for less! I found one for $20.00 in the greater Boston area.
Average customer reviews report three stars out of five. Some love it for the price and accessories, others complain it's too hard to clean and cumbersome. Seems the Hoover sucks more than it should and not in a good way, if you know what I mean.
There are definitely issues with this hefty sucker. Some people don't like upright vacuum cleaners because of their limited use - meaning you can't get them under beds or the living room couch. That's a personal issue, not a manufacturing fault.
The Hoover Windtunnel Pros:
- The Hoover Windtunnel Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum has good suction, and will suck up a lot of dirt. It's bagless which can save a lot of money on bags over its life, and makes you feel good that you're helping clean up the environment as well.
- The cord rewinds at the touch of a button. Especially important if you're in a hurry to hide the vacuum from your compaany.
- The Windtunnel comes in neat colors, not that that's important when looking for a dirt sucking appliance, but cool nonetheless! I personally like the looks of the space age appliance.
- Accessories, accessories, accessories. The Hoover Windtunnel has plenty pf accessories to get in all the nooks and crannies. Olympia Dukakis hits the nail on the head in the hit movie, "Steel Magnolias", when she announces, "The only thing that separates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize." We all love the bells and whistles that come with a new toy. Maybe she was talking about the Windtunnel.
- Price: The Hoover Windtunnel Cyclonic Bagless HEPA Upright Vacuum is reasonably priced - a lot less than an Oreck.
The Hoover Windtunnel Cons:
- The main complaint according to the reviews, report Hoover Windtunnel Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum's small dirt cup. It has to be emptied more often than similar vacuum cleaners. What's the point of that? If it takes me more time to clean the messy dirt cup than it takes to vacuum my carpets, I'm getting another vacuum cleaner!
- The Hoover Windtunnel is a heavy sucker. I don't know about you, but I want an easy-to-use, lightweight model, otherwise I'll have to spend extra money hiring maid-service just to lug the heavy thing up the stairs. The Oreck Vacuum cleaner can hold an 8 pound bowling bowl. That feature alone is enough to make me call the Oreck guy!
- The Windtunnel's wheels turn like an old-fashioned Kirby Vacuum cleaner. Trying to maneuver that gazillion pound sucker around was like dragging Dumbo the elephant around the neighborhood for a walk.
Bottom Line:
If they can send a man to the moon, why can't they design a vacuum cleaner that's light, easy to clean, a joy to use, and can get you a Strawberry Margarita when the job is done? Where's the Oreck Guy when you need him?
