Condé Nast Publications premiered Cookie magazine in November 2005. If the title of this magazine makes your mouth water with tempting visions of warm and gooey chocolate chip cookies, think again. Cookie is a lifestyle magazine for the modern mother. Although there are gourmet recipes and dining and living articles, Cookie features "an editorial mix of fashion, home décor, travel, entertainment and health for her and her family," according to Condé Nast.
I must admit, I had never heard of the Cookie magazine before, nor did most of my peers. Perhaps that's why it never caught on like Ruth Reichl's baby – the ultimate in glossy food porn – Gourmet Magazine.
Reading Cookie for the first time today, I was pleasantly surprised at how well laid out the publication was. The pages were bright and colorful, delicious recipes, great topics featuring style and beauty, entertainment and shopping, community and lots of ads. What I wasn't prepared for was one of the top stories that discusses smoking weed with your neighbors at a play date. Read on...
