Jim Carrey is on a diet to gain 50 pounds for his role as Curly in the the new Three Stooges remake. A chubbier Jim Carrey showed up at a benefit in Los Angeles last week. "Weight wasn’t the only thing Jim’s added to his look — he wore glasses and had grown a full beard," reports Access Hollywood.
It is rumored the Farrelly brothers' big-screen movie, The Three Stooges, will also star Benicio Del Toro as Moe Howard and Paul Giamatti as Larry Fine, although earlier reports suggested Sean Penn would play Larry. His partner, actress and author Jenny McCarthy, will "date" Curly, and might be a possible love interest.
Directors' Bobby and Peter Farrelly are well known for their slap-stick movies starring Jim Carrey in movies Dumb and Dumber and Me, Myself & Irene.
Carrey has played some rather colorful and bizarre characters in his past; the Grinch, Count Olaf in Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, Ace Ventura in the Pet Detective, the Riddler in Batman Forever, and the Mask. Jim Carrey is the best suited actor to play Curly Howard in the Three Stooges. I can just hear him imitating Curly now — Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk.
The Three Stooges movie is slated for a 2010 release.
