Neil Diamond's A Cherry Cherry Christmas CD with The Chanukah Song

Neil Diamond A Cherry Cherry Christmas

Neil Diamond put Sweet Caroline on the charts, and although he has Jewish roots, that's not stopping him from performing Christmas songs and hymns like Amazing Grace on his newly released CD, 'A Cherry Cherry Christmas'.

Neil Leslie Diamond (born January 24, 1941), also known as "Jewish Elvis", is an American singer-songwriter. Diamond tried his hand at film, starring in a remake of the Al Jolson classic The Jazz Singer in 1980, opposite Laurence Olivier and Lucie Arnaz.

A Cherry Cherry Christmas was released in stores and online Tuesday, October 13. The re-mastered classics include a beautiful rendition of "Amazing Grace"; another new Neil Diamond original, "Christmas Dream"; and a more sober version of Adam Sandler's hilarious "The Chanukah Song," produced by DJ Ashba (Guns N Roses).

Although not a Christmas selection, Neil Diamond talks about the lack of Hanukkah songs at the beginning of 'The Chanukah Song,' saying, "There are so many beautiful Christmas songs around and so few Chanukah songs, so I thought we'd try this one for you." In Adam Sandler's original version, the comedian lists some of his famous Jews in the 'The Chanukah Song,' "Paul Newman's half Jewish, Goldie Hawn's half too, put them together, what a fine-looking Jew."

Retail price is $11.98, Amazon.com is selling for $9.99, and Barnes & Noble's price is $8.99 for members.
