All Natural "Vegetarian" Fed Turkey
According to Martha's website, "Martha Stewart Young Turkey is produced in partnership with leading turkey grower Plainville Farms. Each whole turkey is juicy, tender, and delicious, humanely raised, and vegetarian fed. Martha Stewart Young Turkey is free of antibiotics and growth hormones, making it a healthy choice for your family."
How is the Turkey Shipped?
Martha's turkey is shipped frozen and is individually bagged in a thermal sack, placed in a Styrofoam container to retain temperatures. Ice packs are added to keep the turkey cold.
How Much Does a Martha Stewart Turkey Cost?
Considering that the entree is the most expensive part of the Thanksgiving meal, Martha Stewart's turkey may seem rather pricey. However, at $5.00-$5.83 per serving, that's about the price you'd pay at a restaurant for the entree alone. Of course, this doesn't include shipping which could raise the final price accordingly, depending on where you live. Another thing to consider – don't compare this all natural turkey to a store-bought, flavor injected, antibiotic and growth hormone fed, cage-raised turkey that costs .49 cents a pound on sale.
Not sure how to cook the turkey once it gets there? Don't worry – Martha Stewart's "Turkey 101" booklet is included with every young turkey, and gives you step-by-step instructions for Martha's favorite roast turkey, gravy, and stuffing, along with helpful turkey-carving tips. You could also try deep frying a turkey this year. Watch Alton Brown's hilarious but helpful video, How to Deep Fry a Turkey.
