Tiger Woods is calling it quits indefinitely. Woods is leaving professional golf to spend time fixing his family. Tiger is aware that his cheating and infidelity have caused harm to his wife Elin and his children, and he is ready to quit pro golf to be a better husband and father.
Woods made this personal statement today on his website, Tiger Woods.com, "I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children. I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness. It may not be possible to repair the damage I've done, but I want to do my best to try."
Woods' apologizes and asks his fans, competitors, his foundation, the PGA Tour and his business partners for their forgiveness. Even though he is quitting golf indefinitely, he asks for understanding from his professional peers and fans.
Tiger Woods continues, "After much soul searching, I have decided to take an indefinite break from professional golf. I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father, and person."
Tiger pleads for privacy, and says his family needs time for personal healing.
Tiger Woods, 33, was involved in a one-car accident on Black Friday, Nov. 27th, at 2:25 AM, outside his home in Windermere, Florida. He was hospitalized and released, and shortly after, the news of his indiscretions started to surface.
Woods' infidelity hit the media and went viral the last two weeks. In the ongoing Tiger Woods scandal, Jamiee Grubbs apologized to Elin Nordegren on December 9th. Since then, his Gatorade sponsor has decided to discontinue their sport drink.
The January issue of Golf Digest, the premier magazine about the game of Golf, came out and the timing couldn't be worse. The cover features Tiger Woods hovering over President Barack Obama with a subtitle of: 10 Tips Obama Can Take From Tiger.
It was also recently reported that Elin Nordegren was dedicated to saving their marriage, and may or may not be moving out to move to a new home purchased in Sweden. It looks like Tiger's commitment to their marriage and their family may change her mind. Let's hope so.
To recap – Tiger Woods announced that he is leaving professional golf indefinitely. Even though Woods' is calling it quits for the time being, there is sure to be more news coming, hopefully of a reconciled marriage.
