Today, January 8th, on the Rachel Ray Show, Chef Rocco DiSpirito explains why Shirataki Noodles, are also known as "Miracle Noodles." They are just one of four "Rocco's Must-Try Foods for 2010." DiSpirito claims, "These are noodles that have no carbs and no calories! When they come out of bag, you just have to rinse off the water they come in and just throw them into a big pot of hot broth with whatever garnishes you want. They don't need to cook, they're already cooked, and they never overcook!"

"Shirataki Noodles are soluable plant fiber which gives dieters two advantages," says Jonathan Carp, distributor of Miracle Noodles. He claims "It has no calories, and when it gets into the stomach it expands slightly, giving a sence of fullness. The noodles come in a variety of pasta shapes and don't need cooking. Just drain, rinse and dry."

Stores like Whole Foods Markets or Trader Joes have been rumored to sell Shirataki Noodles in the past, but you should call your local store first to make sure. They also sell Black Shirataki Noodles which are made from unrefined Yam Flour from the konnyaku imo tuber, with a very small amount of hijiki (a japanese sea vegetable).
