Haiti 2010 Earthquake Death Toll Could Reach 500,000

Earthquake causes 'unimaginable' Haitian death toll, is the new phrase Hillary Clinton and Pat Robertson are using to describe the horrific tragedy Haiti finds itself in after the 7.0 earthquake devastated the impoverished country late Tuesday, January 12, 2010.

Unimaginable Suffering
The "unimaginable" has happened, and the people of Haiti are suffering in the most tragic way possible. The term 'unimaginable' was used yesterday by televangelist Pat Robertson, and is now being used by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, reporters and others in social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, etc. The devastating 7.0 earthquake that crippled Haiti truly is unimaginable.

What is the Haiti Earthquake Death Toll?
Conflicting reports put the number of dead at anywhere between 50,000 to 500,000. How can the death total be so far off? Because the country is in so much pain and turmoil, and thousands of people are still unaccounted for, there is no way to know how high the Haiti earthquake death toll will be until the search and rescue efforts are completed.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned of an unimaginable disaster in the country. "We know it's going to be in the tens of thousands. The next 24 hours is critical to save those lives that can be saved. We know that from other earthquakes and other disasters," Clinton told CNN. "But then we have a long way back to try to deal with the devastation of the loss of... life and infrastructure."

President Rene Preval said 50,000 could be dead.

Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive told CNN the final death toll from the 7.0 quake could be "well over 100,000."

Only Kent.com made the statement, "Leading politician Senator Youri Latortue, even suggested that the death toll could well rise as high as 500,000."

Missing People in Haiti
Reports of thousands of missing people in Haiti are coming in every hour. Loved ones are being pulled out of the rubble. Dead bodies and the critically injured are everywhere. They're reported to be lying in the streets, in front of collapsed hospitals, in flattened cars and still inside the United Nations building. It will be some time before rescue operations can get to these people to dig them out.

Disaster Relief in Haiti
Rescue teams and supplies are pouring in from all over the world. In an announcement this morning, President Barack Obama pledged $100,000 with more on the way to support the relief efforts. He assured the people of Haiti that, "You will not be forsaken, you have not been forgotten... and that help is arriving, much, much help is on the way."

#1 Hey

Hello, I just wanted to say that Haiti does not need that much help. :( Sure, Im a little devastated about it, but I dont think that they should deserve all the news attention anymore. It should not be a linking news event anymore. Do you get me now? Haiti is important, but not as important as anything else in this world. Many more things should be told about and talked about on news shows. Way more than Haiti should. It should not be a problem to NOT talk about Haiti anymore, but as I said before, it's important, but other things in the world besides Haiti are happening very quickly, and news shows are not even imforming people that these things are actulally happening right now, or they did happen in the past!! How weird is that???!!! This message is to Barack Obama and the Congress. Please make it a law not to talk about Haitians ever again. (Just kidding. But would news shows PLEASE stop talking about Haiti and the Haitians?????)
