The first flight of the new Boeing 747-8 successfully took off without any issues at 12:39pm PST from Paine Field in Everett, Washington on February 8th, 2010. The flight was delayed for a short time today due to bad weather. Make sure to tune in later this afternoon for a live webcast of the Boeing 747-8 landing.
Five cameras set up around Paine Field zoomed in on the new Boeing 747-8 to give everyone watching the live webcast a better look. The reporters on the ground watching the live take off, likened the Boeing 747-8 to a big flying computer. Although the 747-8 will be carrying just two test pilots, they will be monitoring data in real time. It can feed the information directly to the crew on the ground. If there are any issues during the flight, the information can be sent immediately to maintenance crews below. The Boeing 747-8 will be heading up to 10,000 feet.
Boeing claims the high-capacity 747-8 Freighter will give cargo operators the lowest operating costs and best economics of any freighter airplane while providing enhanced environmental performance.
