The 2010 Winter Olympic Games begins today, Feb. 12th in Vancouver. Let's celebrate with a new Google Logo. This one is huge and stretches across the entire Google home page. The 2010 Olympics Google Doodle replaces the "L" with the Olympic Torch, the most recognizable Olympic symbol after the Olympic Rings.
Google has been in the habit of surprising us with new and exciting Google Doodles for years. Recent 2010 Google logos have included New Years Day 2010, Sir Isaac Newton's Birthday, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Day and Norman Rockwell's Birthday. Last year Google Celebrated the Barcode's 57th Anniversary with its own Google Doodle logo.
Not surprisingly, it seems Google has picked up the pace with more Google Doodle logos than ever. In fact, when Christmas 2009 rolled around, there were no less than five Google Doodle logos for the Happy Holidays, each one depicting a different scenic Christmas postcard.
And how can we forget the series of Sesame Street Google Doodles? Each day a different character – Cookie Monster, Bert & Ernie, The Count, Oscar the Grouch and Big Bird – appeared on the top of Google's home page, making people laugh and reminding them to celebrate Sesame Street's 40th anniversary.
Past Olympic Google Doodles featured the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Stay tuned for more Google Doodle Logos to come. Google may just surprise us yet again with a series of 2010 Winter Olympic Google Logos.
