
The Brandywine Ballet Company's Board of Directors is proud to announce the unanimous vote to hire Scott Jovovich as the company's next Executive Director. Mr. Jovovich, a longtime veteran choreographer, principal dancer, and costume/design consultant for Brandywine Ballet Company, inherits the Executive Director post with a unique insight into the prestigious dance company's operations.
Mr. Jovovich has choreographed multiple ballets for Brandywine Ballet, including Carmina Burana, Glazunov Fantasy, Georgie's Blues, and this spring's featured ballet, Frank's Place. Recently, Brandywine udiences were treated to Mr. Jovovich's dance performance, as he reprised his role as Jonathan Harker, in Brandywine's third annual production of choreographer Nancy Page's Dracula, and the Sugar Plum Fairy's Cavalier in the company's seasonal performances of The Nutcracker.
Mr. Jovovich also brings years of experience dancing, teaching and choreographing on the international stage to the table. Jovovich has been a principal dancer or teacher for the Joffrey Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, Northern Ballet Theater of Manchester, England, Universal Ballet of Seoul, Korea, Lar Lubavitch Dance Company, and Ballet Arizona. On Broadway, Mr. Jovovitch has performed with Sarah Jessica Parker in Once Upon A Mattress, and as an original cast member in Fosse, and Jerome Robbins Broadway.
Mr. Jovovitch's experience with Jerome Robbins afforded him the opportunity to work closely with the Broadway legend on a reworking of West Side Story, and The Home Play, a play based on Robbins' life. Additionally, Jovovitch has appeared in various commercials, soaps, and television shows including the Rosie O'Donnell Show, Monday Night Sports, and the Tony Awards.
Mr. Jovovich's appointment reflects the Board of Director's recent augmentation of the entire marketing/development/administrative wing of the Brandywine Ballet Company, which has included the hiring of a new managing director, in-house marketing, development & public relations officer, and administrative assistant. Incidentally, the Board of Directors also warmly acknowledges and welcomes Managing Director Leslie Telthorster, Marketing/Development/PR Officer Joshua Olmstead, and Administrative Assistant Hannah Telthorster. In reference to Brandywine Ballet Company's newly bolstered staff, Mr. Richard Fazio, President of the Board of Directors stated "With the personnel enhancements, I truly believe we have a great administrative staff that will all work together to take us to that next level."Â
