Support Our Troops stamp coming in October 2009

Canada Post is creating a stamp to honour Canadian war heroes and the sacrifice they make. In October of 2007 Dave Murphy founder and creator of thankasoldier.net started a online petition and a group on facebook which quickly picked up steam and gathered over 660 signatures.

Every year on Remembrance Day, we gather to pay tribute to the loyalty, courage and self-sacrifice of the soldiers who died for our country and fought for our freedom. Canada Post will honour our country’s past and present war heroes with a single stamp featuring a poppy.

Canada Post made the decision to create the stamp honouring war heroes after receiving numerous requests, including Murphys Petition. After submitting the online petition Dave Murphy asked his group members to send lenders to the Canada Post stamp Committee asking for this stamp to happen.

A Youtube video was also submitted and presented as part of the stamp request. The stamp will be available October 1st, 2009
