The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Bramwell Tovey present a perfect Valentine's treat: an evening of romantic music in the beautiful Orpheum Theatre. In the great tradition of Symphony Pops, you will hear beloved light classics, jazz, and great musical moments from stage and screen, in a concert sure to help Cupid hit his mark! On Friday & Saturday, February 9 & 10, 8pm, Orpheum Theatre.
Soprano Melanie Krueger and baritone Steve Maddock are featured on this program, singing popular romantic arias and duets. VSO Concertmaster Mark Fewer joins in the fun as well, with frequent jazz collaborators Jodi Proznick and Brad Turner.
This concert, the fourth in the 2006/2007 London Drugs VSO Pops series, features some of the most romantic music ever penned, including pieces by Dvorak, Mozart, Bizet, Puccini, Gershwin, and even a Genie-nominated song by Maestro Tovey from his score for the film "Eighteen."Â Smooth, romantic jazz will always have a place in a Valentine's Pops concert, and there are none better on the Vancouver jazz scene than Mark, Jodi and Brad.
