"Currently there is a limited amount of frost in the ground and with the weather being so unpredictable, the safest option is to relocate the festival to Confederation Landing Park"Â states Kim Green, CEO of Tourism Charlottetown Inc. "If the weather gets mild again, the large machinery could cause damage to Victoria Park. Given the unusual weather, Confederation Landing is the best alternative, as the paved areas will provide a better foundation for construction."Â
This change will not deter progress in the city hosting the largest winter festival east of Quebec City. The snow machine has arrived and a local crew has been put in place to begin getting the site ready for the arrival of the Canadian Snow Sculpting Team due to arrive next week. Also snow is already being piled at Confederation Landing Park to prepare in building the ever-popular CAT Run. Next to the Aliant Snow Kingdom, this is the biggest draw for the children.
