The ultimate event for the 'sex and the city' singleton has arrived, when on Valentine's Day (Wednesday 14 February. 6.30-9.30pm) Manchester Art Gallery plays host to a sophisticated singles night for people with a penchant for art, a love of 60's style and a taste for fabulous cocktails.
The night will offer people of all ages the chance to fall in love over an abundance of art inspired ice-breaking opportunities. Romantic interludes include 'match the artwork', where you can find your other half, stroll through the galleries and make your own pop art badge and finally take a tour of the stylish sixties design exhibition and try your hand at designing your very own love seat. Plus, as the icing on the cake, 1960's styled characters will be shaking and stirring cocktails to a backdrop of stylish lounge music.
Meg Parnell, Curator of Life Long Learning at Manchester Art Gallery, comments. "How many people can say that they fell in love in front of a Turner, Constable or a Blake? Manchester is full of single people looking for love, and this Valentine's Day, Manchester Art Gallery is the ONLY place to be. With free cocktails on tap and soulful 60's sounds playing against the dramatic backdrop of the gallery, the scene is most definitely set for romance. Plus, even if you don't find love, then you are sure to meet some likeminded people and have the opportunity to make some great new friends."Â
The 60's themed singles night takes inspiration from Manchester Art Gallery's current Inventing the Future exhibition of 1960s design by Italian furniture designer Joe Colombo (until 25 February, free entry).
Tickets to Manchester Art Gallery's singles night are £10 in advance, which includes the entrance fee, all activities, and free cocktails all evening. 1960's dress is optional. Places are limited so people are urged to book early to avoid disappointment. -- www.manchestergalleries.org
