
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev visits Berlin today for talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Germany is the current holder of the Presidency of the European Union, which is seeking to diversify its energy suppliers.
Nazarbaev is due in Kyiv on February 1. The Kazakh Embassy in Kyiv says five agreements are due to be signed during the visit, including accords on supplies of Kazakh oil to Ukraine and the extension of a bilateral free trade area.
