Vevo was founded by Universal Music Group, and will run on technology from YouTube.

Music videos are viewed frequently on YouTube, which may have prompted Universal and Google to develop the Vevo service.

Many people are excited about this new project, and in June, Sony Music Entertainment joined. This increases the amount of video content that will be available through the service through labels that have already signed on. Warner and EMI are also said to be interested.

Abu Dhabi Media Company has also reportedly purchased stakes in the start-up of Vevo from Sony and Universal.

Google is also working with Motorola on the Droid, and will be releasing Google Music on October 28, the same day as the Motorola Droid will be available to customers, a phone that is said to be challenging AT&T's iPhone. The Motorola Droid runs on Google's mobile operating system, known as Android 2.0.

Some speculate that Vevo will combine with Google Music and the Motorola Droid in the future.

Little information is available about Vevo, but it is expected to be launched sometime before the end of the year.

Despite Vevo being very closed-mouth about the service, they are openly seeking employees. Vice President Rio Caraeff said in an interview with Yahoo that plenty of jobs are available. "We're looking to hire roughly 35 at the moment, with more jobs added once the launch happens. We're looking for people across just about every level and discipline," he said.
