Adobe says no delays to Flash 10.1

Adobe, clarifying recent statements by CEO Shantanu Narayen, has said its Flash 10.1 will still be released in the first half of 2010, and Narayen's comments were referencing hardware rather than the multimedia platform.

It was reported on HULIQ yesterday that Adobe Flash 10.1 would be released in the second half of 2010. This was also reported on several other news sites, including Engadget.

In an interview with Fox Business, Narayen repeatedly told consumers to new devices with integrated Flash 10.1 compatibility from Android, WebOS, and BlackBerry during the second half of 2010. However, Adobe has explained that the "second half of 2010" is referring to hardware that will be released, and not Flash 10.1. According to Adobe, Flash 10.1 will be arriving "to first mobile platforms including Android...before the end of the first half of 2010."

Narayen was being interviewed in promotion of the latest version of Creative Suite: Adobe CS5. The updated applications are expected to ship in mid-May.

Despite clarification that there will be no delay in Flash 10.1, Apple mobile devices are still absent from the list of products to receive it. Adobe is still hopeful, though, that Apple will at least be able to use content developed through Flash Pro CS5 and run through Packager for iPhone.
