Jan Wenner and his estranged wife Jane have been living apart since 1995. Now it looks as if they are getting ready to make the split official by divvying up the property they jointly own.
Actually, the transactions in both cases involve Ms. Wenner buying out Mr. Wenner's stakes in properties they own in Manhattan and the Hamptons. In January, Ms. Wenner paid $17.57 million for Mr. Wenner's share of a beachfront house on 11.6 acres in Amagansett, N.Y., that the couple purchased in 1991. The house, built in 1968 and remodeled by its designer, Ward Bennett, is currently the principal residence for Ms. Wenner and their three sons.
In a separate transaction that same month, Ms. Wenner spent $4 million to buy out Mr. Wenner's stake in the Upper West Side townhouse they purchased from the estate of Perry Ellis in 1987 for a total of $4.2 million. Mr. Wenner has lived elsewhere on the Upper West Side with his partner, designer Matt Nye, since their split.
The couple continue to interact regularly on business. Mr. Wenner is the chief executive officer of Wenner Media, publisher of Rolling Stone, Us Weekly and Men's Journal magazines; Ms. Wenner is a vice president of the firm.
