UFO forces shutdown of Chinese airport

A recently released video documents an incident last month in which an unidentified flying object forced the closure of an airport in China for about an hour.

The airport in Baoutou, Inner Mongolia, was closed to prevent incoming jets from crashing into a UFO that was hovering over the airfield.

Some flights diverted, others circle airport for an hour

Three flights from Shanghai and Beijing to Baoutou were forced to circle the airport until the UFO disappeared. Two others were diverted to airports in the nearby cities of Ordos and Taiyuan.

An airport spokesperson said the field was closed for about an hour "to guarantee safety."

A video of the object was posted to YouTube not long afterwards. As all that can be seen in the video are flashing lights of varying brightness, some observers have expressed skepticism over whether the object really was an aircraft or spacecraft.

A similar UFO that forced the shutdown of Xiaoshan International Airport near Hangzhou on July 8 was later revealed to be part of a military test at a nearby airfield by Chinese officials.

The Baoutou sighting is the eighth reported UFO sighting in China since the end of June. Some of these sightings may also have been military objects.
