Afghan election problems, today and tomorrow

Dr. Abdullah opted for the sake of the democratic process and national unity. This leaves the country in a crisis as a means of legally settling the post election results in line with the Afghani constitution have not been found. The problems with security surrounding a fraud free election were not properly addressed according to Dr. Abdullah.

The UN-backed Electoral Complaints Commission investigation revealed that Karzai's share of the vote was 49.67%. Which is below the crucial 50% plus one vote threshold needed to avoid a second round.

The main problem in regards to fraud is that accurate polling in Taliban controlled areas are near impossible and different regions have different visions for the country's future.

The second round of elections are set for November 7th, this Saturday.
