Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov is leaving his post as chief executive of Norilsk Nickel, the world's largest producer of the metal.
The move is part of a split with longtime partner Vladimir Potanin. Together they controlled billions of dollars in assets through Interros, Norilsk Nickel's parent company. Interros will remain Potanin's property.
Prokhorov made headlines this month when he was detained in France for several days in connection with a suspected prostitution ring.
