British officials say police have questioned Prime Minister Tony Blair for a second time in a growing political financing investigation.

A spokesman for Mr. Blair's office says police interviewed the prime minister last Friday as a witness, but requested that the questioning remain secret until Thursday.

Mr. Blair became the first serving prime minister questioned by police in a criminal probe when officers interviewed him in December.

The announcement came two days after police briefly arrested the prime minister's chief fund raiser, Michael Levy, for the second time in the probe.

Under the reported scheme, Britain's three major political parties awarded various honors, including nominations to seats in the House of Lords, to people in exchange for large political contributions. - VOA News
